Motional Singapore PTE. LIMITED is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (SRE Focus) to join our Engineering Enablement team and drive developer productivity.

You will build and evolve internal platforms, services, and toolchains that power engineering workflows across Motional. In this role, you will partner with teams to enhance reliability, performance, and scalability of our infrastructure and deliver high-quality service to internal customers.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent knowledge and work experience.
• 7+ years in SRE, DevOps related roles.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins) and containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable backend services, CI/CD pipelines, toolchains and platforms that support developer workflows.
• Improve system reliability, performance, scalability, and observability across distributed systems.
• Partner with other teams to optimize AWS spend and implement cost-saving strategies.

Job description

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer (SRE Focus) to join our Engineering Enablement team and drive company-wide developer productivity. You will build and evolve internal platforms, services, and toolchains that power engineering workflows across Motional.

In this role, you will partner closely with teams across the organization to enhance the reliability, performance, and scalability of our infrastructure platforms, effectively manage complex business-critical systems and deliver high-quality service to internal customers. You will join a talented team of developers and work closely with teams to move from code to production with speed and confidence.

Your primary focus will be our internal developer platform and productivity tooling, enabling engineers to ship reliable, high-quality code faster and more efficiently.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Build scalable backend services, CI/CD pipelines, build systems, toolchains and platforms that can support developer workflows
• Improve system reliability, performance, scalability, and observability across distributed systems by introducing new tools and/or building new features
• Partner with other engineering teams to analyze and optimize AWS spend by implementing cost-effective strategies and identifying cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements in cloud infrastructure.
• Monitor system performance and health, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact users
• Contribute to system architecture decisions and technical roadmaps

What We’re Looking for:

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent knowledge and work experience
• 7+ years in SRE, DevOps related roles
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP), infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation), CI/CD tools (e.g. GitLab CI, Jenkins) and containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong background in modern programming languages (Python, Go, C++ are the ones we use)
• Expertise in software development lifecycle including the ability to understand ambiguous goals and convert them into software requirements
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Bonus Points:

• Experience in the AV industry or robotics
• Deep expertise with mono-repo software development tools and services (e.g. Bazel)
• Previously been on on-call roster to support P1 & P0 systems
• Experience with AI/LLM integration, specifically building/extending Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers to enhance developer productivity and system automation.
