Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. Central Engineering (CE) - Product Yield Enhancement (PYE) Engineering Team, seeks an FA Engineer to provide fault isolation and failure analysis for qualifications, returns, and new device introduction.

You will become an expert in fault isolation and physical failure analysis, collaborating across Product, Test, and Quality teams. You will lead a team of CE PYE technicians, develop new techniques, and ensure tools are well maintained.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Materials Science, or equivalent.

We are currently looking for motivated individuals to join Micron Technology Inc. Central Engineering (CE) - Product Yield Enhancement (PYE) Engineering Team. As CE PYE Failure Analysis (FA) Engineer for Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for providing full fault isolation and failure analysis support for qualifications, customer returns, new device introduction, and test failures. You will become the subject matter expert on fault isolation and physical failure analysis methods. As the CE PYE FA Engineer, you will be responsible for understanding all relevant methodologies to isolate electrical failures by working closely with Product Engineering Teams. You will also have a thorough understanding of the product architecture, process flow, and test sequence to work with Process Integration, Product, Test, and Quality Reliability Assurance Engineering groups ensuring physical defects are root-caused and classified.

Responsibilities:

• Perform sophisticated electrical device characterization to determine electrical fail mechanisms.
• Operate fault isolation equipment to accurately narrow down failure defect locations.
• Conduct physical failure analysis to identify and classify physical defects.
• Establish and hypothesize potential electrical or process fail mechanisms based on detailed electrical fail models and physical failure analysis characterization, supporting process improvement.
• Collaborate closely with a diverse range of collaborators, including teams from frontend to backend and the Global Quality (GQ) department, to address and resolve defectivity issues.
• Prepare and present comprehensive electrical and physical failure mechanisms on a weekly basis to drive continuous improvement.
• Develop and implement new fault isolation and physical failure analysis techniques to stay ahead of industry standards.
• Lead and guide a team of CE PYE technicians, encouraging a collaborative and ambitious work environment.
• Coordinate the maintenance and high uptime of fault isolation and physical failure analysis tools to ensure world-class operational efficiency.
• Integrates AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
• Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within one’s scope of work.

Requirements:

A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Materials Science, or equivalent

Proven experience as a great team player with outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills and a strong drive to excel.

• Knowledge of fault isolation equipment, techniques, and physical failure analysis is a significant advantage.
• Strong understanding of NAND/DRAM/HBM devices and knowledge of Fab processes is a desirable asset.
• Ability to support shift rotation as required to meet operational needs.
• Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role‑appropriate AI literacy to use AI‑enabled tools responsibly and effectively for research, analysis, content creation, problem‑solving, operational tasks, and achieving business outcomes
