Job Overview

Tyco Electronics Singapore Pte Ltd (TE Connectivity) is seeking an R&D Scientist/Engineer to join our R&D Center. The Scientist/Engineer will be part of a specialized simulation and modelling team, collaborating with R&D team members, business unit partners, as well as local universities and government research centers. The role involves undertaking projects that embed simulation into TE’s design and process workflows to deliver a competitive advantage. This position is based at our Singapore HQ.

The Singapore R&D Center works with the CTOs of TE’s Business Units to identify key R&D areas and develop technologies impacting all segments. To enhance the New Product Development process, TE is expanding its simulation and modelling capabilities as part of our Digitalization strategy to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and accelerate time to market.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Assist with projects to create multi-physical (mechanical, thermal, chemical, electrical, etc.) models targeting TE product design and manufacturing needs.
  2. Evaluate, develop, and apply multi-physics solutions using commercial software and advanced numerical methods.
  3. Create awareness across TE of the modelling and simulation capabilities of the Singapore center.
  4. Collaborate with local and global TE sites, external customers, and vendors to address urgent or strategic needs.
  5. Assist with validation and knowledge transfer of outsourced modelling projects.
  6. Partner with Singapore research institutes to develop advanced simulation techniques.
Job Requirements

Required:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) with relevant experience.
  • Keen interest in R&D involving simulation, modeling, and data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of structural mechanics, heat transfer, and MEMS (Micro Electromechanical Systems).
  • Experience with modelling mechanical and thermal problems using FEA simulation tools, preferably Ansys, Moldex3D, Digimat.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as SpaceClaim, Creo, or DesignModeler.
  • Familiarity with project management principles.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with material development and product design.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (molding, extrusion, plating, stamping, assembly).
  • Familiarity with TE products like connectors, cables, sensors.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties of various materials including polymers, metals, and alloys.
  • Knowledge of CFD using simulation packages like Ansys Fluent.
  • Knowledge of Signal Integrity and HFSS simulation.
  • Understanding of data science and machine learning.
