Job Summary:
The Scrub Nurse/Operating Theatre Staff is a vital member of the operating theatre team in an aesthetic clinic, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient execution of surgical procedures. The Scrub Nurse/Operating Theatre Staff must possess strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating theatre and instrument trolley for surgical cases, ensuring all necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies are available, properly sterilized, and in optimal working condition.
- Conduct meticulous instrument and swab counts before, during, and after surgical procedures, following standardized procedures to ensure accurate tracking and patient safety.
- Verify and confirm patient identity, consent forms, allergies, site of operation, and other essential details to prevent errors or complications.
- Prioritize patient safety throughout the surgical process, monitoring vital signs, anticipating potential issues, and promptly addressing any concerns or changes in the patient's condition.
- Maintain accurate records of chargeable consumable items and supplies used during procedures, ensuring proper documentation for billing purposes.
- Facilitate the labelling and dispatch of specimens according to established protocols to ensure accurate laboratory analysis.
- Fulfil the role of a circulating nurse, overseeing and coordinating the flow of activities within the operating theatre to maintain efficiency and safety.
- Aid surgeons during procedures, passing instruments, sutures, and other required items promptly and efficiently.
- Deliver attentive post-operative care to patients during the recovery phase, monitoring their condition, managing pain, and addressing any complications or discomfort.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team, including surgeons, anaesthesiologists, nurses, and support staff, to ensure seamless communication and effective patient care.
- Assist in the cleaning, packing, and sterilization of instruments and surgical supplies with Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) standards.
- Uphold a meticulously clean and sterile environment within the operating theatres and preparation rooms, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Supervise the thorough decontamination of the operating theatre, equipment, and instruments following each contaminated case.
- Regularly inspect and ensure the readiness of the crash cart, emergency equipment, and supplies to respond to any unforeseen emergencies.
Job Requirements:
- Possess a Diploma in Nursing/ITEC Esthetics Dipolma
- Working experience in aesthetic clinic will be advantage.
- Profound knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and aesthetic surgical procedures.
- Familiarity with sterile techniques, infection control practices, and operating theatre standards.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, capable of managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration with the surgical team and other healthcare professionals.
- Calm and composed under pressure, demonstrating resilience in high-stress situations and emergencies.
- Ability to work on weekends.
