Job description

The incumbent will be responsible to provide personalized, specialised and cost-effective care to the patients in accordance to established hospital policies and procedures, standards of nursing care and practices.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Primary Responsibility
    1. Assesses patients’ needs on admission and daily throughout their hospital stay
    2. Plans and implements care according to the assessed needs
    3. Evaluates and monitors patients’ progress according to planned care
    4. Documents care given and monitors outcomes on the established charts and forms
    5. Carries out treatments and investigations as prescribed by physicians
    6. Communicates and discusses patients’ progress and response to treatment with physicians, nursing and allied health colleagues involved in the patient care
    7. Ensures continuity of patient care and treatment plans through follow-ups
    8. Delivers safe and competent nursing care
    9. Participates actively in physicians’ rounds
    10. Prepares and assists physicians with procedures done on patients
    11. Collaborates and co-operates with physicians and other health-care providers in the smooth delivery of patient care and services
    12. Demonstrates clinical skills, knowledge and critical thinking in the delivery of patient care
    13. Provides patient/family information and education on disease prevention, health education and rehabilitation techniques
    14. Demonstrates proper use and care of equipment
    15. Demonstrates proper and economical usage of consumables and supplies
    16. Maintains a clean and safe working environment
  2. Secondary Responsibility
    1. Supervises and guides new/junior staff in their work as well as nursing students on posting
    2. Participates in clinical and service quality activities
    3. Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned by Unit Nurse Leader
Requirements
  1. Registered Nurse approved by Singapore Nursing Board
  2. Diploma in Nursing or Degree in Nursing from recognized training institution as approved by the Singapore Nursing Board
  3. Fluent in spoken and written English
  4. Good interpersonal and communication skills
  5. Compassionate, positive and caring nature
