Job description

The Customer Quality Staff Engineer will mentor team members, drive quality improvements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support New Product Development (NPD), Manufacturing, and Field Issue Feedback. The role focuses on resolving quality issues, improving product reliability, and preparing products for High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) to ensure customer satisfaction. This role requires travel as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review product design, process flows, and validation plans, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, define Critical to Quality (CTQ) and Critical to Function (CTF) criteria, and oversee supplier quality.
  • Lead multiple quality projects and mentor Quality Engineers.
  • Manage multiple quality initiatives, ensuring QMS accuracy for new products, prototypes, and pilot machines.
  • Manage First Article Inspection (FAI) and monitor initial production lots before mass production.
  • Develop and enhance measurement systems (MSOP) for in-process inspections at part, module, and machine levels.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action plans using tools like 8D, 5Why, and FTA.
  • Work with production teams to reduce defect rates and improve cycle times.
  • Collaborate with Field Service teams to address customer complaints and drive quality improvements.
  • Utilize statistical analysis tools such as Minitab for data-driven decision-making.
  • Monitor and improve key quality metrics such as Total Customer Detractor Rate (TCDR), Opportunity Cost (eOPR), and Scrap Cost.

  • Proficiency in quality tools like DFMEA, PFMEA, 8D, Six Sigma, and DMAIC.
  • Experience in statistical analysis using Minitab or similar tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electronic, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in manufacturing and product development within the semiconductor industry.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
