Job summary

Kulicke & Soffa's R&D team in Singapore seeks a Staff Engineer to develop and optimize next-generation semiconductor assembly equipment. You will model, simulate and test high-speed, high-precision systems and collaborate globally to drive performance, reliability and cost efficiency.

The role requires hands-on testing, DOE, instrumented measurements and data analysis, with strong skills in Matlab/Simulink, C/C++, Python and Excel VBA.

Qualifications

• Masters in Engineering or other Scientific Discipline.
• Experience in R&D or Product Engineering preferred, semiconductor equipment and/or precision machine development.
• Experience with systems modeling methods and tools including Matlab/Simulink.
• Experience with reliability testing principles and practice.
• Knowledge of servo control systems, vision systems, and material handling systems.
• Experience in optimization methods in system design.
• Hands-on testing, data analysis, DOE, instrumentation, statistics.
• Experience with requirements analysis, definition, allocation and validation.
• Proficient in C/C++, Python, Tcl, and Excel VBA.
• Strong initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; willingness to travel internationally.

• Identify opportunities for modeling capability enhancements and development initiatives.
• Perform root-cause analysis to understand, rectify and prevent issues.

Job description

As a Staff Engineer at Kulicke & Soffa’s R&D, your main challenge is to develop and optimize advanced semiconductor assembly equipment through system modeling, analysis, testing, and validation. You will collaborate with global engineering teams to drive innovation, improve performance and reliability, and support the development of next-generation manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Work as a Systems Engineer in Research & Development (R&D) department on advanced technology platforms for next generation high speed, high precision automated semiconductor assembly equipment
• Model and analyze system and subsystem-level dynamic performance in high-speed, high accuracy semiconductor manufacturing equipment
• Utilize system modeling and analysis to identify critical system and subsystem-level requirements and recommend target values
• Conduct system optimization studies; assess tradeoffs between system performance, accuracy, and cost; identify critical system constraints
• Define and execute test standards to qualify systems and sub-systems to specifications.
• Identify, document and recommend opportunities for system modeling capability enhancements and development initiatives
• Perform root-cause analysis to understand, rectify and prevent issues

Qualification:

• Masters in Engineering or other Scientific Discipline
• Work experience in R&D or Product Engineering preferred, as well as Semiconductor equipment and/or precision machine development experience
• Experienced with systems modeling methods and tools including Matlab/Simulink
• Experience with principles and practice of Reliability testing
• Principles of operation of servo control systems, vision systems, material handling systems
• Principles and application of optimization methods in system design
• Hands-on testing and data analysis experience; test planning and set-up, design of experiments, instrumentation, statistical analysis, etc.
• Experience with technical systems requirements analysis, definition, allocation, and validation
• C/C++, Python, Tcl, Microsoft Excel VBA
• Strong personal initiative and demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
• Good communication skills (written and oral)
• Willingness to work as part of a global engineering team with offices in Singapore, Europe, China, and the US; ability to travel internationally.
