Job summary

Ng Teng Fong General Hospital is seeking a Senior / Staff Nurse (Infection Control) to join multiple disciplines and provide high quality patient care. The incumbent will facilitate, implement and evaluate hospital-wide infection control programs to create a safe environment and prevent infections.

Responsibilities include collaboration with Nurse Clinician or SNM, ensuring IC protocol adherence, investigating outbreaks, auditing training, and sharing research.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Nursing or State Registered Nurse Certificate.
• Advanced Nursing Diploma or equivalent and infection control experience preferred for Senior Staff Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate, implement and evaluate hospital-wide infection control programs.
• Collaborate with Nurse Clinician or Senior Nurse Manager to plan unit/ward IC participation.
• Ensure staff practices follow IC protocols and address non-conforming practices during ward rounds.
• Investigate infection outbreaks or IC-related studies identified by IC Committee.
• Identify and record healthcare-associated infections systematically.
• Assist in managing outbreaks across hospital, campus and national levels.
• Assist in planning IC audits and training for pandemic preparedness.
• Share IC research and publish papers.
• Teach and orientate new nursing staff in the department.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of patient education programs conducted by units/wards.

Job Description:

The incumbent shall be responsible for thefacilitation, implementation and evaluation of hospital wide infection control program with the aim to provide a safe environment to prevent and control infection.

• Assistand collaboratewith Nurse Clinician(NC)or SeniorNurse Manager (SNM) to define and develop plans that enable full participation for the unit/ward level to meet Infection Control (IC) policies and guidelines.
• Ensure staffpractices in relation to hospital infection control protocolsand to correct any non-conforming practices by reinforcing good clinical practices while on daily ward rounds.
• Assistin investigating outbreaks of infection or any study identified by the IC Committee.
• Identify systematic collection and recording of healthcare associated infections.
• Assist in management of all outbreaks involving hospital, campus and nation.
• Work with NC in planning and evaluation of Infection Control (IC) audit and training programmes in the preparedness exercises for pandemic outbreak.
• Assist the IC team in sharing of research and projects on IC at conferences and seminars. Including publishing paper on infection control research and projects.
• Teach and orientate new nursing staff and other personnel assigned to the department.
• Evaluates effectiveness of patient education programme conducted by units/wards.

Job Requirements:

• Diploma in Nursing or State Registered Nurse Certificate
• Relevant Advanced Nursing Diploma or equivalent and experience in inefection control is preferred for candidate applying for the Senior Staff Nurse position.
