Job summary

United Test And Assembly Center Limited (UTAC) in Singapore is seeking an Associate Engineer – Equipment Engineering (R&D SMT) to setup and optimize SMT equipment for prototype and new product development. You will work closely with R&D, process, and product engineering teams to enable flexible, accurate, and timely build execution.

The role requires a diploma in relevant engineering and 2–5 years in SMT equipment engineering or NPI; hands-on experience with DEK/GKG printers, Fuji placement

Qualifications

• Diploma in mechanical/electrical/electronics/mechatronics or related discipline.
• 2–5 years of SMT equipment engineering, NPI, or R&D support.
• Hands-on experience with SMT equipment (DEK/GKG printers, Fuji placement, BTU ovens).
• Experience supporting engineering builds or prototype environments preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and ability to adapt in fast-changing environments.

Responsibilities

• Set up SMT equipment to support R&D and prototype builds.
• Prepare machines for new product trials: program setup, feeder prep, line configuration.
• Provide hands-on support during engineering builds.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues to support fast-paced development.
• Collaborate with R&D and Process Engineers to optimize setups.
• Perform product changeovers for low-volume, high-mix environments.
• Maintain SMT equipment readiness for frequent build changes.
• Support equipment evaluation and continuous improvement.
• Document setup configurations, learnings, and best practices.
