What You'll Do
Reporting to Sr. Manager, People & Culture (India), you will collaborate closely with the global Engineering leadership team to deliver comprehensive employee lifecycle programs, supporting organizational engagement and culture in India. With expertise in organizational and change management, you will help leaders design scalable and agile structures, embodying Avalara's Success Traits. This role combines strategic and tactical responsibilities—assessing business needs and translating them into actionable growth initiatives.
- Partner with leadership: Drive engagement, culture, talent, retention, and development initiatives.
- Implement HR programs: Provide thought leadership and execute HR initiatives across growth and operations teams.
- Identify development opportunities: Collaborate with leaders on career growth and succession planning.
- Utilize analytics: Educate leaders on workforce metrics to foster continuous improvement.
- Talent acquisition & succession: Work with recruitment teams to fill talent gaps and build pipelines.
- Performance coaching: Guide managers and employees on effective communication and feedback models.
- Diversity & Inclusion: Lead DEI initiatives, support Employee Resource Groups, and promote inclusive hiring practices.
- Employee relations & legal compliance: Manage employee relations issues, investigations, and ensure adherence to legal standards.
- Operational excellence: Streamline HR processes, leverage automation, and partner with HR colleagues to support business priorities.
- Role modeling: Embody Avalara’s success traits, inspiring team excellence and passion.
What You'll Need to be Successful
- 7-8 years HR experience, preferably in SaaS or growth environments.
- Proven leadership coaching, influence, and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of HR disciplines: compensation, employee relations, diversity, recruitment, performance management, employment law.
- Experience with HRIS systems, especially Workday.
- Strong interpersonal skills and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Preferred: 4-5 years as a Strategic Business Partner, bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
