Job summary

NHG Health invites applications for an Occupational Therapist to join our expanding team across NHG Health institutions. The role focuses on assessment and treatment within a multidisciplinary setting across tertiary and intermediate rehabilitation settings.

You will assess, develop and implement treatment plans to help individuals achieve independence, provide cognitive and functional training, and educate families on care strategies. Senior applicants with relevant experience are welcome.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy is required.
• AHPC registration or eligibility is required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Assess, develop and implement treatment plans to improve independence in self-care, daily living, work, leisure and play.
• Provide functional, cognitive and perceptual assessments and training.
• Educate and train families and caregivers on interventions and care giving skills.
• Contribute to ongoing quality improvement and mentor trainees and students.

The main role includes providing assessment and treatment of patients within a multi-disciplinary setting with focus on tertiary and intermediate rehabilitation settings.

• Assess, develop and implement treatment plans to help individuals achieve optimal independence by improving and restoring skills in activities of self care, daily living, work activities, leisure and play.
• Provide functional, cognitive and perceptual assessment and training of daily activities, facilitate work rehabilitation, prescribe and train in the use of assistive technology or devices, and apply ergonomic principles to performance of occupations.
• Educate and provide training for family members and caregivers on interventions and care giving skills.
• Contribute towards continuous quality improvement in the department and provide guidance to trainees and students.

Job Requirements

• Recognised bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy
• Registered or eligible for Allied Health Profession Certification (AHPC)
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment
• Commitment to provide compassionate and patient-centred care
