Job description
Instructor
  • Teaching horse riding lessons in a safe, progressive and enjoyable manner for all levels of rides from Beginner Courses up to Novice.
  • Preparing students for monthly competitions and assist them on show days.
  • Actively encourage students to become more involved in the riding section through Pony Club, additional lessons, leases and competing at shows.
  • Ensure rider lists and colour levels are maintained and reviewed quarterly.
  • Complete rider assessments of new riders, teach beginner courses.
  • Participate in clinics to develop riding and teaching skills.
  • Progress qualifications through the BHS course program up to Stage 3 SM
  • Report issues regarding horse behavior or welfare
  • Attend weekly department meetings.
  • Teach regular or ad-hoc lessons outside of normal teaching hours with overtime compensation
  • Assist with SPC competitions including arena setup, arena tasks and stewarding.
Stable management
  • Daily check of riding section stables and horses between 7am & 8.30am. Submit weekly report
  • Order weekly feed and bedding requirements
  • Train and support the grooms in their jobs.
  • Complete monthly report of tack and equipment condition.
  • Maintain an inventory of tack in use and in-store, recommend any tack requirements.
  • Maintain horse care records
  • Allocate horses for daily lessons, schooling, turnout against daily sheet bookings. ( to commence after first month)
Requirement
  • Possess a British Horse Societys Assistant Instructor (BHS AI) Certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Good inter-personal skills to deliver high quality customer care.
  • Enjoy teaching at all levels; from beginners to competitive riders.
