Job summary

Based in the Department of Student Services, this position calls for a team player who has passion, personality and professional skills to enable youths with special educational needs (SEN) to achieve their potential.

Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support for students with special needs, which may include emotional difficulties
  • Facilitate access arrangements by developing support plans, together with academic staff, in curriculum development and classroom management
  • Conduct training for students with special needs in the area of executing functioning skills and also prepare them for work
  • Conduct training for staff to address various learning needs, including but limited to the application of Universal Design for Learning principles in an Institute of Higher Learning
  • Provide other student support services in accordance to institutional strategic initiatives
  • Perform administrative duties to support multiple initiatives and outreach
Requirements
  • At least 4 years’ relevant experience working with and counselling youth with SEN
  • Passion in working with youth from diverse backgrounds
  • Relevant experience in integrating Universal Design in Learning (UDL) in classroom setting would be an advantage
  • Relevant experience in conducting training with adults would be an added advantage
  • Excellent communication and administrative skills, both in speaking and writing
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team setting
  • Relevant qualifications in special needs, counselling, psychology, social work, or related disciplines

Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
