• Knowledge of current special education topics and methodologies.
• Experience working with children with a wide range of disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assess students’ skills to determine needs and develop teaching plans.
• Adapt lessons to meet individual student needs.
• Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student.
• Plan, organize and assign activities tailored to each student’s abilities.
• Teach and mentor students in class, small groups, and one-on-one.
• Implement IEPs, assess performance, and track progress.
• Update IEPs throughout the school year reflecting progress and goals.
• Discuss progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators.
• Supervise and mentor teacher assistants working with students with disabilities.
• Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade and after graduation.
