Job description

Who We Are

At JING Halal Hotpot & BBQ, we serve more than a meal—we curate an experience. Located in Paya Lebar, Singapore, JING offers a refined halal Chinese hotpot and BBQ concept where every detail matters. From thoughtfully crafted broths to the ambiance of our space, each element is chosen with care—blending soulful hospitality with uncompromising quality.

Your Craft, Elevated

We’re looking for a detail-oriented, consistent, and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team at JING. This isn’t your standard back-of-house role—it’s an opportunity to contribute to a kitchen where flavour, precision, and quiet excellence are at the heart of everything we serve.

You’ll work closely with our kitchen team to prepare and execute dishes that reflect our high standards and subtle aesthetic. Whether it’s mise en place or final plating, your hands will help bring our story to life—one dish at a time.

This is a full-time, on-site role, ideal for a chef who’s as focused on consistency as they are on care.

What You’ll Be Handling

1. Preparation & Execution

  • Execute daily prep and station work to ensure efficient and consistent service.
  • Cook and present dishes according to our brand’s standards for quality and style.
  • Support mise en place and contribute to smooth kitchen flow across all shifts.

2. Quality, Cleanliness & Safety

  • Maintain the highest standards of food hygiene and safety at all times.
  • Ensure proper food handling, labelling, and storage according to SOPs.
  • Perform regular cleaning duties and maintain a safe, organised kitchen environment.

3. Kitchen Coordination

  • Communicate effectively with fellow chefs and service staff to coordinate timing and flow.
  • Step in across different stations as needed, maintaining consistency under pressure.
  • Assist in coaching junior team members and supporting their growth in the kitchen.

4. Cost & Inventory Awareness

  • Minimize waste through smart preparation, rotation, and portioning.
  • Alert the Head Chef to low-stock items and equipment needs.
  • Contribute to a cost-conscious kitchen culture that doesn’t compromise on quality.

Who You Are

  • 3–4 years of experience in a professional kitchen, ideally in a premium or concept-driven restaurant
  • Familiar with commercial kitchen operations, food safety, and HACCP standards
  • A steady hand with plating, prep, and consistency
  • Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Culinary diploma or relevant certification is a plus—but dedication and skill matter most

Who We’re Looking For

A kitchen professional who values precision, calm, and consistency. You work clean, move fast, and treat every dish as a reflection of pride. You’re collaborative by nature, take direction with intention, and understand the quiet satisfaction of doing things right—even when no one’s watching.

Why Join Us

JING isn’t just another restaurant—it’s a space where culture, craft, and care come together. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for team members who want to shape something lasting, not just punch a clock. In return, we offer an environment where you can refine your skills, take ownership, and be part of something meaningful.
