Qualifications

  • 1 year as a professional baker/pastry chef or 2 years in culinary.
  • Experience with sourdough preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Check production schedule and liaise with the team for daily products.
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes.
  • Accuracy in scaling and detail during mixing and baking.

Job description

The famous “hole-in-the-wall” bakery from Canggu, Bali opened its contemporary bakery café at Havelock Road, Singapore in August 2019. Starter Lab centres itself around healthy natural products from hand-crafted sourdough bread, pastries, posh toasts, salads, and locally roasted coffee.

Our sourdough goes through a process of long fermentation using only wild yeast, wholesome natural ingredients, and the magical element of time!

If you are passionate about wholesome food, open to learning, and are customer-focused – we would love to have you join our crew.

We are now on the lookout for talented bakers for the production of Singapore's best sourdough bread and pastries based in Tai Seng, using wholesome ingredients and artisanal methods.

Role of Baker

  • Reporting directly to the Executive Chef
  • Check production schedule and liaise with the team to determine products to be made each day/week
  • Measure and mix ingredients to form dough or batter according to recipes
  • Mix and shape products according to recipes
  • Accuracy in scaling
  • Eye for detail during mix, proof, shape, and bake

Skills and Abilities

  • 1 year as a professional baker/pastry chef OR
  • 2 years in culinary
  • Professional and positive attitude
  • Passion for baking and open to learn
  • Excellent communication skills and an eye for detail
  • Some experience in sourdough is preferred
