Contacts assigned customer accounts or prospects to sell company products within a designated geography or industry. Focuses on meeting personal sales targets, new business development, maintaining customer relationships, and troubleshooting specific customer problems. Has a solid knowledge of products, their characteristics, and market. Typically requires a good general education, excellent interpersonal skills, and sales experience.

Customer Relationship Management / Account Management

Develop and implement a customer contact plan to communicate product launches and engage customers in relevant sales campaigns. Act as the first point of contact for customer queries and complaints, resolve these issues, refer complex problems to others, and ensure the customer receives an appropriate response.

Customer Relationship Development / Prospecting

Develop and implement a customer contact plan to communicate product launches and engage potential customers in relevant sales campaigns to build new relationships. Act as the first point of contact for customer queries and complaints, resolving these issues, referring complex problems to others, and ensuring appropriate responses.

Customer Needs Clarification

Set clear objectives for each sales call or meeting; use standard materials to present to the customer; ask relevant questions to evaluate the customer's interest level and identify areas requiring further information or explanation.

Sales Opportunities Creation

Identify potential customers through information gathering, referrals, recommendations from existing customers, and participation in trade shows and conferences.

Sell Customer Propositions

Identify products or services that best meet customer needs, use personal expertise to propose quantities and configurations, explain these to the customer, and invite purchase under standard pricing and terms.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Data

Schedule follow-up actions and enter relevant information into the CRM system after each contact to create a call plan and ensure quality data for effective customer retention and business development.

Promoting Customer Focus

Assist in developing internal communications and collaborate with colleagues to build strong external customer relationships and meet customer needs.

Operational Compliance

Develop knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and relevant regulations to ensure work adheres to standards. Obtain supervisor approval for exceptions to mandatory procedures.

Performance Management

Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to improve performance. Monitor team performance, allocate work, review completion, and take corrective actions as needed. Contribute to individual performance appraisals.

Personal Capability Building

Develop capabilities through assessment, training, coaching, and maintaining external professional accreditation where relevant. Stay informed about relevant technology, regulations, and industry best practices through ongoing education and media.
