Job summary

METROPOLIS SECURITY SYSTEMS PTE. LTD. is seeking a versatile software engineer to design, develop and maintain web applications, backend services, and mobile apps.

You will build RESTful APIs, work with databases and integrate internal and external systems. You will deploy across Linux servers and cloud environments, manage deployments, backups and security updates, and provide production support while contributing to digital transformation efforts.

Qualifications

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test and maintain web applications, backend services, mobile applications and system integrations.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, databases and integrations with internal and external systems.
• Deploy and maintain applications across Linux servers and cloud environments, including application hosting, networking and security configurations.
• Manage deployment automation, system monitoring, backups, security updates and disaster recovery procedures.
• Provide technical support for production applications, investigate system issues and implement effective solutions.
• Maintain technical documentation and continuously improve application performance, security, reliability and operational efficiency.
• Support digital transformation initiatives and collaborate with business and operational teams on technology solutions.

Essential Skills and Requirements

• Practical experience with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Express.js and RESTful APIs .
• Working knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, and database query optimisation.
• Familiarity with Linux/Ubuntu, Nginx, Git, Docker, CI/CD and cloud hosting environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot application, database, integration and infrastructure issues.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with a security-conscious approach to work.

Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in software development, full stack engineering, system integration or a related technical role.
• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant practical experience .
• Experience in production system support, cloud infrastructure or DevOps practices will be an advantage.
• Familiarity with additional technologies such as PHP, Laravel, Python, Java, WordPress, React Native, AWS and other database platforms will be an advantage.
• Able to work independently, manage competing priorities and provide timely support for urgent production incidents when required.
