Job summary

ByteDance Singapore (ByteDance PTE. LTD.) seeks a backend-focused engineer to strengthen our global payment system. You will design scalable architectures, improve disaster tolerance, and coordinate cross-region initiatives while maintaining robust performance under peak traffic.

You will collaborate with teams across regions to implement new technologies, optimize processes, and ensure secure, reliable payment services on ByteDance platforms, including TikTok.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with high-concurrency/complex systems.
• Proficient in at least one backend language: C++, Java, Go, Python, or Shell.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent teamwork and communication; self-driven.

Responsibilities

• Upgrade global payment system architecture with domain knowledge and design skills.
• Develop disaster tolerance and degradation strategies for core components.
• Build cross-region disaster tolerance capabilities; ensure data center resilience.

Responsibilities

About Global Payment The Global Payment team of ByteDance provides payment solutions - including payment acquisitions, disbursements, transaction monitoring, payment method management, foreign exchange conversion, accounting, reconciliations, and so on to ensure that our users have a smooth and secure payment experience on ByteDance platforms including TikTok. Responsibilities: 1. Combine domain knowledge of payment business and system architecture design capabilities to iteratively upgrade the global payment system architecture. 2. Develop disaster tolerance and degradation strategies for various basic components used in the system to ensure the stability of system services. 3. Build cross-region disaster tolerance capabilities for the global payment system. Under the premise of ensuring data security and compliance, ensure that the system can calmly face data center-level failures. 4. Sort out business processes and dependencies, identify possible system bottlenecks in the system, and ensure stable operation during business peak periods such as Double 11 and Black Friday. 5. Introduce new technologies and solutions to the team according to actual business needs. 6. With one's own excellent project management and coordination and communication skills, be responsible for promoting key cross-team projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical background involving software/system engineering, or equivalent working experience 2. Good programming experience with high concurrency/complex business system/service management 3. Proficient in at least one of the following backend languages: C++/Java/Go/Python/Shell 4. Strong analytical thinking and excellent troubleshooting 5. Positive and optimistic, strong sense of responsibility, self-driven, serious, good team communication and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications: 1. Background in payment industry is preferred
