Job summary

Activate Interactive Pte Ltd is hiring a Software Engineer to join the Co-Development Business Unit in Singapore. The role focuses on rapidly delivering and iterating web products for government agencies, spanning frontend, backend, databases, APIs, and cloud deployment.

You will help turn ambiguous ideas into working software and collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders from discovery through delivery.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with production code.
• Strong, recent Node.js experience and modern Node ecosystem.
• Proven experience building a web system end-to-end—frontend, backend, databases, APIs, infra.
• Understanding of modern web architecture, cloud, CI/CD, and engineering practices.
• Ability to work independently in ambiguous spaces and make solid tech decisions.
• Startup/innovation-team experience with bias for action and delivery.
• Experience with AI-assisted development workflows.

What will you do?

Project: PDO Innovation Space | Rapid Product Delivery & Experimentation

ROLE MISSION

Turn ambiguous ideas into working web products quickly, learn from users, and iterate toward production-ready solutions.

• Build and operate web products end-to-end across frontend, backend, databases, APIs, cloud infrastructure and deployment
• Translate product ideas and user needs into working software quickly, then iterate based on feedback and evidence
• Make pragmatic architecture and technology decisions that balance speed, quality, maintainability and scalability
• Work closely with product managers, designers and stakeholders from discovery through delivery and iteration
• Set up fit-for-purpose engineering foundations such as automated testing, CI/CD, observability and security without slowing experimentation
• Own outcomes across the product lifecycle and contribute reusable patterns and practices to help the wider team move faster

Requirements

What are we looking for?

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline
• 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with recent experience actively writing and shipping production code
• Strong, recent Node.js experience and familiarity with the modern Node.js ecosystem
• Proven experience building a web system end-to-end - including frontend, backend, databases, APIs, infrastructure and deployment
• Strong understanding of modern web architecture, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD and software engineering practices
• Comfortable working independently in ambiguous problem spaces and making sound technical decisions
• Startup, innovation-team or fast-moving product experience, with a strong bias for action and delivery
• Experience with AI-assisted development workflows, including AI coding agents, code generation or automated code review
• Track record of taking a product from idea or prototype through to production
• Experience working in cross-functional agile product teams with product managers and designers

You take an ambiguous problem, work with the team to determine what matters, and quickly turn it into a working product that can be put in front of real users. You favour learning through delivery and iteration while maintaining the engineering discipline needed for products to grow beyond the initial experiment.
