Job summary

NCS is a leading AI Tech Services company with a 15,000-strong team across the Asia Pacific. We are seeking a Senior/Software Engineer to design, develop and support large-scale software systems from design to production.

You will build backend services in Kotlin, develop full-stack solutions with Kotlin and React, work with PostgreSQL, and implement CI/CD pipelines on cloud platforms using containerisation and orchestration.

Qualifications

• Around 5 years or more of software engineering experience in large-scale systems.
• Strong fundamentals across the full software development lifecycle, including testing, deployment and security.
• Proficiency with Kotlin and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Experience with ReactJS and full-stack development is a plus.
• Experience deploying and operating applications on cloud platforms and containers.

As a Senior / Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and supporting large-scale software systems, taking ownership across the full software development lifecycle from technical design through to production support.

What will you do?

Software Development & Engineering

• Design, build and support software products for large-scale and business-critical systems.
• Translate complex and ambiguous requirements into scalable, resilient and production-ready software solutions.
• Develop and maintain backend services using Kotlin, with strong focus on performance, reliability and maintainability.
• Develop full-stack solutions using Kotlin and ReactJS, where applicable.
• Work with relational databases such as PostgreSQL to design and optimise data models and queries.
• Apply sound software engineering principles and best practices throughout the development lifecycle.

System Integration, Deployment & Operations

• Take ownership of applications from technical design through development, testing, deployment and production support.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and deployment processes.
• Deploy and operate applications on cloud platforms using containerisation and orchestration technologies.
• Implement application monitoring, observability and logging to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Participate in incident response, troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production issues.
• Identify system bottlenecks and drive improvements to application performance, reliability and operational efficiency.

Technical Design & Continuous Improvement

• Evaluate technical solutions and make practical, data-driven recommendations for complex engineering problems.
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, development tooling and engineering practices.
• Drive technical improvements from proposal through to implementation and completion.
• Ensure solutions adhere to appropriate security, scalability, reliability and maintainability standards.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and non-technical stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
• Communicate technical proposals and recommendations clearly, using data and sound engineering judgement.
• Work effectively with team members to promote knowledge sharing, continuous learning and engineering best practices.

Theideal candidate shouldpossess:

• Around 5years or more of relevant experience in software engineering, preferably in complex, large-scale systems or projects.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals across the full development lifecycle, including software development, testing, CI/CD, deployment, observability and security.
• Strong experience with Kotlin and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Experience with ReactJS and full-stack development would be advantageous.
• Experience deploying and operating applications on cloud platforms.
• Hands‑on experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, scalability, reliability and performance optimisation.
• Demonstrated experience supporting applications in production, including troubleshooting and incident response.
• Strong ownership and accountability, with the ability to take technical decisions from design through to production support.
• Good analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work through complex and ambiguous technical problems.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• A proactive mindset with a strong commitment to continuous learning, knowledge sharing and process improvement.
• Ability to challenge assumptions constructively and propose practical, well‑reasoned technical solutions.
• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
