Job summary

Argyll Scott Singapore is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to build and enhance robust Java/Kotlin applications. You will join the Software Engineering team to deliver scalable solutions, implementing best practices and collaborating with business and technical stakeholders.

You will work on design, development, testing and deployment using Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, EJB, and IBM MQ while applying TDD and modern CI/CD in an agile Scrum/XP environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with core Java and Kotlin and Spring Boot.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms and OO design.
• Experience with JUnit, TDD, REST/SOAP, JMS/IBM MQ and SQL.
• Relational databases experience and SQL query optimisation.
• Basic exposure to Linux, AWS, CI/CD and containerisation.
• Experience with Git, IntelliJ, and SonarQube/SonarLint.
• Good communication and teamwork; banking/financial services exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Experience with JUnit, TDD, REST/SOAP, JMS/IBM MQ and SQL.
• Good understanding of relational databases and SQL query optimisation.
• Basic experience with Linux, AWS, CI/CD and containerisation.
• Experience with Git, IntelliJ and SonarQube/SonarLint.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
• Banking or financial services experience is preferred.

Good to have: JBoss, JPA, EJB, Kafka and ReactJS.
