Job summary

Airwallex, headquartered globally with Singapore presence, is seeking engineers to design and maintain its Ecosystem platform and APIs. You will collaborate with product, design, and GTM teams to deliver scalable integrations and open-banking features.

You will work on SDKs, webhooks, and UI-extension patterns, driving technical excellence and developer tooling to enable third-party developers to build on Airwallex.

Qualifications

About the Team

Join our Ecosystem team, a cross-functional group of engineers and product partners building the platforms and integrations that connect Airwallex with the software our customers rely on every day. We own strategic accounting, marketplace, payment plugins, and open-banking integrations, as well as the infrastructure that powers our public APIs that enabling third-party partners to build on top of. You'll work closely with backend, product, design, and go-to-market teams to ship secure, reliable experiences that simplify financial operations for businesses of all sizes and unlock new use cases on top of the Airwallex business account.

What you'll do

As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and contribute to the growth and success of our company. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain the ecosystem platform, build and integrate APIs to connect with external financial institutions and third-party platforms (accounting, HR, ERP, marketplace, etc.), and develop scalable solutions to support our ecosystem strategy.

You will also have the chance to work closely with product managers and designers to deliver innovative features and functionalities, as well as contribute to the technical roadmap and provide input on new technologies and best practices.

This role is based in Singapore.

Responsibilities

• Platform Architecture & Strategy: Lead the high-level design and long-term technical roadmap for the App Marketplace or Extension Framework.

• Extensibility Frameworks: Design and implement the core SDKs, webhooks, and UI-extension patterns that allow third-party developers to embed their functionality directly into the Airwallex platform.

• Technical Excellence: Establish and enforce rigorous internal coding standards, observability patterns, and security protocols for the entire team.

• Developer Experience (DX): Champion the needs of external developers by building world-class documentation infrastructure, sandboxes, and tooling.

Who you are

We're looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field

• 2+ years of experience in developing Internet applications, large financial systems, or e-commerce platforms

• Proficient in coding or scripting languages (Java/Kotlin/C++/Python, etc.)

• Deep familiarity with the standard library, idiomatic usage, and best practices of your primary programming languages.

• Ecosystem Experience: Direct experience building or maintaining a public-facing developer platform, app marketplace, or extension framework.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Architectural Patterns: Deep expertise in Domain-Driven Design (DDD) to manage complex business logic and microservice boundaries.

• Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with cloud-native tech stacks, including Docker, Kubernetes, and advanced observability tools.

• Emerging Tech: Experience integrating AI/LLM models to automate integration workflows or enhance developer tooling.
