Job summary

GovTech Singapore is seeking a Software Engineer for its HealthCare-Tech division. You will join a cross-functional agile team and design, develop, and maintain software systems aimed at tackling public health challenges.

The ideal candidate has experience with full-stack technologies, including Next.js/React.js for the front end and Java/TypeScript/Node.js/Golang for the back end, as well as expertise in SQL, NoSQL, and AWS.

What you will be working on

GovTech's HealthCare-Tech division is looking for a Software Engineer to join a cross-functional agile team supporting the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) and Singapore's broader public healthcare sector. You will design, develop, and maintain high-quality software systems that address real public health challenges, working alongside Product Managers and Designers to deliver technical solutions in collaboration with government agencies.

The role requires hands-on experience with full-stack web development (preferably Next.js/React.js on the front end and Java/TypeScript/Node.js/Golang on the back end), SQL and NoSQL databases, cloud platforms (AWS preferred), and CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with containerisation tools and observability platforms is also expected.

Beyond technical skills, the team values engineers who take ownership of their work end-to-end, show initiative, collaborate openly, and are genuinely motivated by building technology for the public good.

• Work closely with the cross-functional agile team consisting of Engineers, Product Managers, and Designers to solicit business requirements & deliver technical solutions
• Collaborate with government agencies to deliver high-quality software systems
• Contribute to adoption of relevant, up-to-date technologies, practices, and tools in modern software development lifecycle
• Contribute to code reviews by offering feedback that enhances the overall quality of the codebase
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies, such as Sprint Planning, Review, and Retrospective
• Participate in regular tech-sharing and solutioning sessions

What we are looking for

• Experience working on reasonably large, high-availability software systems that have operated at scale
• Experience in modern full-stack web application technologies; experience in modern front-end engineering on Next.Js/React.js/Nuxt/Vue.js and Java/TypeScript/Node.js/Golang on the backend is preferred
• Experience working with SQL & NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS (preferred), Azure and/or GCP
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.)
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes or other container orchestration tools
• Proficient in writing comprehensive unit and integration tests
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools, especially the ELK stack, AWS CloudWatch, Splunk

Please note that this will be a 2-year fixed-term contract.
