Job summary

GovTech in Singapore is hiring a senior software engineer to lead the full software development lifecycle for complex enterprise applications. You will architect scalable, secure systems and collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers to deliver value.

You will mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and drive automation across testing, deployment, and infrastructure while staying current with emerging tech trends for public sector projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience, backend or full-stack.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or C#.
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, API design (REST/GraphQL), and agile practices.

What you will be working on

• Lead the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to implementation, testing, and deployment, for complex enterprise applications.
• Architect and build scalable, secure, and resilient software systems using modern technologies and best practices.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers to translate user needs and business requirements into technical solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Conduct code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards, performance optimization, and maintainability.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities for testing, deployment, and infrastructure management.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring high availability and performance of critical systems.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential application to GovTech projects.
• Contribute to technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on backend or full-stack engineering.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or C#.
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, message queues, and API design principles (RESTful, GraphQL).
• Demonstrated experience with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and propose effective solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code) is highly desirable.
• A passion for public service and a desire to leverage technology for societal good.

Please note that this will be a 2-year fixed term contract.
