Job summary

MSI GLOBAL PRIVATE LIMITED is seeking a motivated Software Engineer (Backend Development) to join our Back Office Development Team in Singapore. Fresh graduates and up to 5 years of experience are welcome as you work on high-volume enterprise applications for our AFC platform, spanning SDLC from design to deployment.

The role involves building RESTful APIs, database-driven services, and system integrations while contributing to CI/CD pipelines, code quality, and cloud migration initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering or related field.
• Fresh graduates are welcome; 1–5 years of experience encouraged to apply.
• Strong knowledge of Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with REST APIs and SQL databases.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD practices.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix or Windows environments is advantageous.
• Good communication and willingness to learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise backend services.

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Software Engineer (Backend Development) to join our Back Office Development Team. This role is suitable for both fresh graduates and candidates with a few years of software development experience who are passionate about backend technologies and enterprise application development.

You will be involved in the design, development, testing, integration, deployment, and support of high-volume, high-performance enterprise applications for our Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) platform. Working alongside experienced engineers, architects, QA, DevOps, project managers, and business stakeholders, you will gain valuable exposure to the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise applications and backend services.
• Develop and enhance RESTful APIs, database-driven applications, and system integrations.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient Java code following best practices and coding standards.
• Assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving application and integration issues.
• Collaborate with team members to support SIT, UAT, production deployment, and post-deployment support activities.
• Perform database development, optimization, and SQL query tuning.
• Support the implementation of automated testing, performance testing, and quality assurance activities.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Git and Jenkins.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and deployment documentation.
• Participate in software modernization, microservices development, and cloud migration initiatives.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code to improve productivity and code quality.
• Work closely with technical and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet business requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
• Candidates with 1 to 5 years of experience in software development, backend development, or enterprise application development are encouraged to apply.
• Knowledge of Java programming and object-oriented design principles.
• Familiarity with Java technologies such as Spring Boot, Spring Framework, REST APIs, JDBC, and SQL.
• Understanding of relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
• Basic knowledge of Git version control and software development best practices.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix or Windows environments is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Good communication skills and willingness to learn new technologies.

Preferred Skills (Optional)

• Spring Boot, Microservices Architecture, and REST API development.
• Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, or JMS.
• Test automation tools such as Robot Framework, Selenium, or JMeter.
• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions.
• Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, or other cloud technologies.
• Frontend exposure to Angular, React, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Experience with AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
• Experience in transportation systems, payment systems, AFC, or fintech solutions would be an advantage.
