Job summary

Makino Asia Group in Singapore designs, develops, tests, and validates machine-control software for Electrical Discharge Machines (EDMs). The role focuses on machine operation, sequencing, interlocks, and axis motion control to ensure reliable performance.

You will translate requirements into software specifications, perform testing and debugging, support prototypes and commissioning, and collaborate across engineering teams to deliver safe, high-quality control software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in CS, software engineering, computer engineering, mechatronics or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain machine-control software for EDM systems, focusing on operation, sequencing, interlocks, and axis motion control.
• Develop and optimize motion-control functions, including positioning, interpolation, trajectory execution, servo-related control logic, and coordinated machine movements.
• Translate machine and product requirements into software specifications, system architecture, algorithms, and detailed software designs.
• Perform software testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and validation to ensure functionality, accuracy, reliability, and system stability.
• Support prototype development, system integration, machine commissioning, and performance evaluation activities.
• Analyze test results and field feedback to identify root causes and implement software improvements or corrective actions.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, application, manufacturing, and service teams to resolve system-level issues and deliver cross-functional projects.
• Prepare and maintain software design documentation, test records, change records, technical specifications, and source-code documentation.

The Software Engineer (Machine Control) is responsible for the design, development, testing, and validation of machine-control and motion-control software for Electrical Discharge Machines (EDMs).

You will play a key role in delivering reliable, accurate, and maintainable control software that integrates seamlessly with machine hardware while meeting product, quality, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.

Technical Knowledge - Fundamental knowledge of:

• Software design, programming, testing, and debugging
• Control systems, automation, robotics, or motion-control concepts
• Data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming principles
• System requirements analysis, machine behaviors, interfaces, and technical documentation
• Candidates with experience in software development, automation, embedded systems, industrial equipment, or machine-control applications will have an added advantage.
• Experience in CNC control systems, machine-tool control, or motion-control software is highly preferred.
• Candidates with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in CNC control systems will be strongly preferred.
