Job summary

ABS Connect in Singapore is seeking a Java Developer with 4–6 years of hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, SQL, and Kafka to develop and support enterprise applications in production environments, with exposure to banking and transaction-processing systems.

You will design, build, and maintain core applications, implement secure RESTful APIs, optimize queries, and participate in CI/CD with Jenkins and containerized deployments on OpenShift/Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of hands-on Java development experience.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Microservices, and Hibernate/JPA.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Java Developer with 4–6 years of specific hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices,SQL, Kafka, and production support. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in developing, integrating, troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise applications in production environments, with good exposure to banking and transaction-processing systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications using Core Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and Hibernate.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, including authentication, authorization, exception handling, validation, and secure API communication.
• Write complex SQL queries, perform query optimization, troubleshoot database issues, and support performance tuning.
• Develop and maintain event-driven applications using Apache Kafka, including messaging, producers/consumers, transaction concepts, error handling, and message processing.
• Implement scalable and reliable microservices following enterprise development and coding standards.
• Monitor application health and troubleshoot issues using Splunk, Kibana, or equivalent log-monitoring tools.
• Support CI/CD activities using Jenkins and assist with application deployments and troubleshooting in Open Shift/Kubernetes environments.
• Work with MariaDB or other relational databases for application development, data validation, and production troubleshooting.
• Provide L2/L3 production support, including incident analysis, root-cause identification, defect resolution, and application recovery.
• Handle and troubleshoot P1/critical production incidents, coordinating with development, infrastructure, database, and business teams to restore services within agreed SLAs.
• Debug complex issues across distributed microservices, APIs, databases, messaging systems, and application infrastructure.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, release activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Must-Have Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in Core Java.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and Microservices.
• Good knowledge of Hibernate/JPA.
• Strong SQL skills, including query writing, optimization, and performance tuning.
• Hands-on knowledge of Kafka, including messaging and transaction concepts.
• Good understanding of API security, authentication, authorization, exception handling, and validation.
• Experience with Splunk, Kibana, or similar log-monitoring tools.
• Experience with Jenkins and basic to intermediate knowledge of Open Shift/Kubernetes.
• Experience with MariaDB or other RDBMS.
• Strong experience in L2/L3 production support and P1 incident handling.
• Good understanding of distributed application troubleshooting and production debugging.

Functional / Domain Knowledge

• Exposure to Core Banking systems and transaction-processing applications.
• Basic understanding of Savings Account and Current Account interest calculations.
• Good understanding of ACID properties and database transaction management.
• Understanding of vertical and horizontal scalability in distributed applications.
• Ability to debug and troubleshoot distributed systems, microservices, APIs, Kafka, databases, and production application issues.
• Understanding of transaction consistency, concurrency, failure handling, and system reliability.
