Software Engineer

About the Role

As a Software Engineer at Hatcher+, you will be responsible for building and enhancing the core FAAST platform, working on everything from API design and third-party integrations to user experience and data visibility tools. You'll work closely with a cross-functional team including product, design, and data to solve challenging problems at scale.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design and develop scalable, secure, and high-performance applications
2. Write clean, well-documented, maintainable code
3. Build and maintain APIs and services that power critical platform features
4. Collaborate on system architecture and participate in design reviews
5. Work with relational databases and optimize complex queries (e.g., MySQL/PostgreSQL)
6. Integrate with third-party APIs and cloud services
7. Troubleshoot, debug, and improve system reliability and performance

Required Skills

1. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
2. 2+ years of experience in backend or full-stack development
3. Proficiency in at least one backend language such as: PHP, Python, Node.js, Go, Ruby, or Java
4. Experience with frontend technologies such as: JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and frameworks like Vue.js or React
5. Experience working with MySQL or other relational databases
6. Proficiency with Git and working in Linux environments

Nice to Have

1. Experience with Laravel (for PHP candidates)
2. Familiarity with AWS or other cloud providers
3. Exposure to CI/CD, Docker, or microservice architectures
4. Interest or experience in venture capital, AI/ML, or startup ecosystems
