Job description

Role Profile

The purpose of the role is to lead the team in the design, development, implementation, optimisation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of software applications. Develop short- and long-term strategies for creating scalable software programs/products, either based on market research/management direction for sales to market or opportunities generated by the sales team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire software project lifecycle and manage all team members.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards and business objectives.
  • Design and implement goals for the software development team, including cybersecurity requirements and upgrade paths.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation from requirements, design, interfaces, integration, to test plans.
  • Research new technologies to enhance the organisation’s development capabilities.
  • Define procedures to support software applications in production environments.
  • Interface with internal and external customers to understand requirements, set priorities, and communicate progress.
  • Coach the team in troubleshooting and bug fixing.
  • Ensure all activities comply with the company’s safety procedures.

  • Prior experience in software development and design, including the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with software development methodologies.

Education & Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Quantitative or Mathematical Sciences, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Candidates without the required experience but with strong domain knowledge may also be considered.
