Job summary

Combuilder Pte Ltd is seeking a hands-on Software cum Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and data pipelines in Singapore. You will blend software engineering with data engineering to deliver scalable solutions.

You will collaborate with architects, data engineers, and DevOps to implement robust APIs, data models, and secure data flows while ensuring high quality and reliability.

Qualifications

• Degree in CS/Software Eng/IT or related field.
• Hands-on Node.js and JavaScript experience.
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs.
• Strong SQL knowledge and database design.
• Experience integrating multiple systems and data sources.
• Understand JSON, HTTP/HTTPS, OpenAPI/Swagger, OAuth 2.0 and JWT.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD practices.
• Knowledge of secure coding and software engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.

Job description

We are seeking a hands-on Software cum Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain backend applications, APIs, data integration services, and data pipelines. The role requires strong software engineering capabilities, particularly in Node.js and RESTful API development, combined with practical experience in databases and data engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using Node.js.
• Develop reusable microservices and integration components to support application and data requirements.
• Build and maintain data pipelines (ETL/ELT) for ingestion, transformation, processing, and movement of structured and unstructured data.
• Integrate applications with databases, external systems, APIs, and enterprise platforms.
• Design API specifications, data models, schemas, and interface contracts.
• Implement API authentication and authorization, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and role-based access controls.
• Develop solutions using relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, or Elasticsearch.
• Perform data transformation, cleansing, validation, and optimisation to ensure data quality and reliability.
• Troubleshoot application, API, integration, and data-processing issues across different environments.
• Implement logging, monitoring, exception handling, audit trails, and performance optimisation.
• Develop automated unit, integration, and API tests.
• Work closely with solution architects, data engineers, software developers, DevOps engineers, and business analysts.
• Participate in requirements analysis, solution design, code reviews, technical documentation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Ensure solutions comply with organisational cybersecurity, secure coding, and data governance requirements.

Technical Requirements

Essential

• Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or related discipline.
• Strong hands-on development experience with Node.js and JavaScript.
• Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs.
• Good knowledge of SQL and database design.
• Experience integrating multiple systems and data sources.
• Understanding of JSON, HTTP/HTTPS, OpenAPI/Swagger, OAuth 2.0 and JWT.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD practices.
• Good understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and secure coding.
