COMPANY DESCRIPTION

THKMC was incorporated on 13 October 2011 as a charity to provide multiple social and welfare services to the community at large, and achieved an Institute of Public Character (IPC) status on 18 November 2011. THKMC is the charitable arm of Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society, which lives by the mission To Serve Mankind to help anyone who needs help regardless of their race, religion, colour, language, creed, and culture. THKMC today serves more than 70,000 beneficiaries through more than 70 programmes across five Services, which include Disability, Early Intervention for Children, Family, Seniors' Community, and Therapy.



Position: Social Worker - Family Service Centre @ Tanjong Pagar
Responsibilities
  1. Casework Engagement & Assessment
    • Engage clients and significant others (e.g., family, caregivers) in a therapeutic manner to understand their needs.
    • Manage and overcome reluctance and resistance to change.
  2. Casework Review & Documentation
    • Implement and follow up on care/case plans and interventions to determine their effectiveness and modify them as necessary.
    • Draft social reports for complex cases for supervisor review.
  3. Goal Setting & Intervention Planning
    • Develop appropriate care/case plans for clients.
    • Assist clients in developing strategies and viable plans.
    • Represent cases in case conferences.
  4. Group Work
    • Identify and reach out to individuals or groups who may benefit from organized group work.
    • Plan, implement, monitor, evaluate, and modify therapeutic group activities.
    • Facilitate high-risk therapeutic group sessions under supervision.
  5. Community Work
    • Conduct environmental scans and assess community needs.
    • Design and implement community-specific development programmes.
    • Participate in community initiatives and provide recommendations.
  6. Professional Development & Education
    • Engage in learning opportunities and community of practice meetings.
    • Attend courses to enhance professional skills and knowledge.
  7. Programme Development & Implementation
    • Participate in or lead programme activities tailored to client needs.
    • Review and refine programmes as necessary.
    • Identify service gaps and recommend improvements.
  8. Research
    • Support and participate in research projects.
    • Engage in multidisciplinary team research.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from a recognized university by the Social Work Accreditation and Advisory Board (SWAAB) of Singapore.
  • Independent, creative, flexible thinker with motivation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of diverse cultures and races.
  • Patience, compassion, passion, and commitment to family services.
Additional Information

THK Family Service Centres (FSCs) serve as vital community hubs, providing social services to families facing psycho-social challenges. Currently, five FSCs are managed in Jurong West, Bukit Panjang, Tanjong Pagar, MacPherson, and Bedok North.
