Job description

Provide the best possible preventive, developmental, remedial and rehabilitative interventions unique to every child residing at Sunbeam Place (SBP).

Responsibilities

Residents

1.Educational Needs

  • To work with team to provide academic support for residents in the Children’s Home, ranging from 7 to 21 years old.

a. Provide academic coaching to support residents’ educational needs. This may include tapping on volunteer or professional resource pool.

b. Implement and monitor progress of individualised educational plan for assigned residents.

c. Review and evaluate the effectiveness of academic help for residents.

d. Support in related administrative tasks.

2. Medical Needs

  • To facilitate the medical needs and well-being of residents in the Home through working closely with the Child Care Associate on medical related practices and SOPs, reviewing SOPs periodically to ensure compliance with Standards of Care and best practices.

3.Employment and Independent Living Skills

  • To plan, monitor and evaluate programmes/services with the support of workgroup colleagues to address residents’ employment needs and/or independent living skills. Examples of such programmes/services include career mentoring for tertiary residents and the whole home implementation of Life Skills Programme.

4. To work with the team in managing the individual and corporate volunteers/volunteer-driven activities in the Home.

Staff Team

5.To provide guidance and supervision for the programme staff team, referencing the relevant competency and knowledge & skills framework

6.To support outcome reporting at platforms like Standing Committee meetings, Admissions and Progress and Discharge Workgroup

7.Any other ad-hoc task as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work/Counselling/Psychology or in a related discipline or Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, including supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with volunteers and programme development will be an advantage.
  • Good written and oral communication
  • Possess knowledge of the social service and educational landscape /resources
  • Able to do basic research and evaluation
  • Possess high level of initiative and independence
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • High levels of accountability, initiative and adaptability
  • Able to work after office hours or on weekends when needs arise
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
