Job summary

NEA National Environment Agency in Singapore is seeking a data‑driven professional to join the Modelling & Instrumentation Department. You will handle water quality data, compile emissions information and prepare inputs for air and water quality models.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Data Analytics, AI, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Environmental Science or related discipline.
• Experience or interest in Applied AI, ML, Data Analytics, Data Science or Digital Solutions development preferred.
• Experience in managing, processing and analysing large datasets.
• Strong analytical, sense-making and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of GIS, programming, data analytics or statistics is an advantage.
• Meticulous and able to maintain accurate data, records and technical documentation.
• Self-motivated, adaptable and willing to learn, innovate and improve work processes.
• Ability to undertake technical and research work independently and as part of a team.
• Good written and spoken English, with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to undertake fieldwork and support environmental monitoring or sampling activities.

Responsibilities

• Assessing water quality data and identifying potentially unreliable or anomalous data.
• Compiling and maintaining information on pollution sources and emissions for air emissions inventories and databases.
• Preparing input data for air and water quality models used to assess the potential impact of new developments, evaluate and track pollution incidents, and identify potential sources of air and water pollution.
• Processing, analysing and presenting environmental monitoring data and model outputs, including supporting model validation.
• Supporting research projects on the sources, characteristics and chemical composition of air and water pollutants.
• Providing technical and field support for the deployment, operation and testing of air and water quality monitoring systems and sampling equipment.
• Supporting the procurement and management of projects, systems and services, including the preparation of quotation and tender documents.
• Working with air and water quality monitoring teams and other stakeholders on monitoring, modelling and research projects.
• Preparing technical documentation, data summaries, reports and presentation materials.

What the role is

You will be part of the Modelling & Instrumentation Department (MID) in the Environmental Monitoring & Modelling Division (EMMD). MID manages continuous air and water quality monitoring systems, conducts trials and test-bedding of emerging monitoring technologies, and undertakes modelling and research studies. The Modelling and Research Branch conducts air dispersion and water quality modelling studies to assess and quantify the potential impacts of policies, development projects and pollution incidents. The Branch also undertakes research and data analysis to better understand air and water quality issues in Singapore and support NEA's policies and operations.
