As a Smart Systems Engineer at Micron, you will be at the forefront of innovation in our semiconductor manufacturing environment across High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), Component Assembly and Test, and SSD operations. You will collaborate with a multi‑functional team, providing system solutions to improve operational productivity, efficiency, and product quality while driving cost‑reduction initiatives. Your role will encompass problem analysis, system development and building, vendor management, production testing, know‑how training, and commissioning of solutions. You will define software specifications, research, develop, document, modify, and support software throughout the development process.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Provide solutions to meet operational needs to drive down manufacturing cost and cycle time while improving product yield and quality. Solutions may include both internal Micron applications and third‑party vendor applications.
- Explore opportunities to introduce new systems, including AI‑powered analytics and automation tools, to improve organizational efficiency through system solutions.
- Conceptualize, plan, and improve user interaction and engagement by conducting detailed analysis and understanding of application performance and user experience.
- Build user interfaces that use insights from data analysis, incorporating visual, technical, and functional elements to ensure ease of access, intuitive understanding, and seamless usage.
- Develop and maintain software applications using Micron‑approved software languages, databases, standard tools, and solutions that promote reliability, maintainability, and portability of codes.
- Analyze gaps and proactively introduce measures to improve the efficiency of existing systems by keeping abreast of the latest AI technologies.
- Apply project management to lead projects and collaborate with business users and IT to define requirements, resolve issues, and carry out improvement and development efforts.
- Coordinate, build, and manage the health of databases. Establish backup and recovery requirements and maintain documentation and procedures.
- Own and govern assigned enterprise applications as system lead, accountable for ensuring availability and performance.
- Provide active leadership to drive the group to higher levels of proficiency. Mentor peers or less experienced team members. Develop training materials and provide training and mentorship.
Requirements
- Master's/Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or Computing.
- Familiar with the practical usage of AI technologies and tools (M365 Copilot); experience in AI agent creation is an advantage.
- Proficient in programming languages (Python, C#, ASP.NET, SQL, Angular, HTML, etc.).
- Knowledge in database technologies (Microsoft SQL, Oracle, Snowflake, etc.).
- Good understanding of software development methodologies and the full software development life cycle.
- Familiar with collaborative tools like GIT.
- Strong analytical, logical, and critical thinking skills.
- Effective communicator, able to collaborate across all levels.
- Growth mindset with a passion for continuous learning.
- Internship or experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership and a track record of impact are highly desirable.
