Help us make breakthroughs that transform the world of healthcare. As Site Engineering Head, you will lead the Engineering organization, which is responsible to establish, maintain and improve the engineering processes on site with respect to buildings, equipment, utilities and energy.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Organizational Development: You will establish clear mission and vision, set objectives, lead and develop the Engineering Function. You will ensure inspection readiness, support internal and external audits, and ensure compliance with quality standards, and implementing GOPs and other standards.
  • Maintenance & Calibration: You will drive and improve technical availability, reliability, and condition of assets by establishing cost-efficient repair and maintenance processes in compliance with regulations, and define and execute asset strategy and lifecycle management.
  • Vendor & Contractor Management: You will develop contractual strategy and framework to manage vendors / contractors and corresponding contracts.
  • Project Engineering & Control: You will manage the investment budget and project portfolio for the site, lead investment review committees, and develop and execute project strategies according to plan and in line with the site’s vision.
  • Technical Services Operations: You will drive improvements in Technical Services (infrastructure, utilities, availability and reliability).
  • Commissioning & Qualification: You will ensure that adequate C&Q systems are in place and timely equipment C&Qs are completed as per plan
  • System & Tools: You will manage, coordinate and customize centrally shared systems / databases to provide professional infrastructure for design, installation, qualification and lifecycle management of facilities and equipment.
  • Environmental Sustainability: You will establish, lead, coordinate and ensure that the site and Novartis’ s ES goals are achieved

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in engineering (Dipl. Ing. / M. Sc. / B. Sc.) or equivalent
  • Fluent in English and proficient in local language
  • Leadership experience (successful project management) on major investment projects and/or large maintenance organization
  • Excellent project management skills including contract management and project appraisal / financial knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to effectively present complex ideas and solutions to executive management, technical experts and global / local teams
  • In-depth technical knowledge in chemical and / or pharmaceutical processes and equipment
  • Wide interdisciplinary knowledge
  • Extended HSE and GxP/QA knowledge

Desirable Requirements

  • Prior experience working in pharmaceutical or biotech organizations
  • Six Sigma / Lean knowledge and experience
