Responsibilities
- Identifying Potential Ships for Employment - Source suitable vessels for specific chartering or trading opportunities.
- Business Development - Develop new customers and expand the client base by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
- Market Intelligence - Maintain up-to-date market data and stay informed on relevant shipping trends and developments.
- Market Analysis and Research - Conduct detailed market analysis and provide clients with tailored insights, trade ideas, and research to support their shipping needs.
- Negotiation and Documentation - Negotiate chartering agreements and draft comprehensive recap documentation upon successfully fixing a deal.
- Regulatory Compliance - Ensure compliance with port and flag state regulations, as well as the terms of shipment.
- Daily Communication - Communicate regularly with shipowners, charterers, clients, and internal colleagues to ensure smooth operations.
- Performance and Cost Analysis - Monitor and analyse vessel performance and associated costs to optimize efficiency.
- Contract Management - Manage Contracts of Affreightment (COAs) with both charterers and shipowners.
- Client Reporting - Prepare and present Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports and meeting materials for customers.
- Due Diligence and Approvals - Support due diligence efforts and assist in approval processes for onboarding new clients and executing brokerage agreements.
- Risk Management - Review internal procedures to identify, assess, and manage operational risks.
- Client Engagement and Travel - Attend client meetings and industry events, including travel, to strengthen relationships and represent the company.
- Ad Hoc Duties - Perform additional tasks and support other business functions as required.
Requirements
- 5 to 9 years of experience in shipbroking, shipping operations, or maritime-related roles is highly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to work both independently and in a team environment.
