PacificLight Energy Pte Ltd on Jurong Island seeks a seasoned Power Plant Operations Lead to manage generating unit operations, supervise shift resources, and ensure safe, efficient performance to meet output targets.

The role requires 8–10 years in power plants, 3 years at supervisory level, Bachelor’s in Engineering and relevant certificates, with strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills. Shift work on 12-hour rotating schedules is expected.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent; strong knowledge of safety and statutory requirements.
• 8–10 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role, preferably in Power Plants.
• 1st Grade Engineer (Steam) Certificate of Competency preferred; other certificates considered.
• Strong management, leadership, analytical and communication skills.
• Willingness to standby after office hours for emergency calls.

Responsabilidades

• Manage generating unit operations and maintenance activities.

• Monitor unit performance and maximize efficiency.
• Ensure plant reliability and availability targets are met.
• Identify and rectify defects; coordinate with Maintenance team.
• Coordinate daily activities and provide direction to team members.
• Issue and verify Permits to Work with proper safety endorsements.
• Carry out EHV switching in cooperation with PSO and maintenance engineers.
• Examine progress and equipment to ensure safety and specifications.
• Detect unsafe conditions and train new workers as needed.
• Propose measures to improve motivation, equipment performance, and safety.
• Communicate with PSO on non-conformances and unit synchronization.
• Liaise with Energy Trader on daily plant operations.
• Prepare daily shift logs and other operational reports.

Responsibilities

• Manage generating unit operations and maintenance activities.


• Manage the deployment of operational resources on shift to meet dispatch requirements.


• Ensure unit is operated in a safe, efficient and timely manner in accordance with established operational guidelines and to meet output requirements.


• Ensure unit performance is closely monitored and maximum unit efficiency is maintained in operations.


• Ensure plant reliability and availability targets are met through continual reviewing and monitoring of performance.


• Ensure all system, plant and equipment defects are identified, reported on and rectified. The latter activity to be coordinated with Team Leader (Maintenance).


• Coordinate daily activities; provide direction to team members as required.


• Issue Permits to Work, including ensuring proper certification for safety endorsements promptly.


• Carry out EHV switching or isolation/normalization in conjunction with PSO and authorized Electrical Maintenance engineers for EHV works.


• Examine and inspect work progress and equipment to verify safety and ensure that specifications are met.


• Patrol and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment in order to detect and pre-empt unsafe conditions or violations of procedures or safety rules.


• Explain and demonstrate work tasks to new workers or assign new workers to experienced workers for further training.


• Recommend and implement measures to improve worker motivation, equipment performance, work methods, and customer services.


• Communicate with PSO on operation non-conformances, permission to synchronize or de-synchronize units, generating units’ trips, sudden load limitation on specific generating units etc.


• Liaise with Energy Trader on daily plant operations


• Prepare daily shift log reports and all other operational reports e.g. trip reports for internal and PSO etc.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or equivalent qualifications, with good working knowledge of steam, gas turbines, as well as safety, and statutory requirements.


• College degree may be waived if equivalent, extensive related experience can be demonstrated.


• Candidates should ideally possess at least eight (8) years to ten (10) of relevant experience, of which three (3) years are at a supervisory level, preferably in Power Plants or related industries.


• Those with 1st Grade Engineer (Steam) Certificate of Competency, or 1stGrade Engineer (Steam Combustion Engine) Certificate of Competency awarded by Ministry of Manpower are high preferred.


• Possess good management and leadership quality, self-motivated and independent, and has strong analytical and communication skills.


• Possess good working knowledge of steam and gas turbines and safety and statutory requirements.


• Strong ability to add value in all processes and systems.


• Available on standby after office hours for emergency calls to ensure a continuous supply of utilities.


• This role requires the ability to accurately identify colour, read and comprehend technical documents, and safely operate equipment and machinery.

• Must be able to work on 12-hour rotating shifts (10am to 10pm and/or 10 pm to10am)
