About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering team. This role is responsible for overseeing all technical operations, safety, maintenance, and sustainability initiatives of the hotel.


A key focus will be managing the pre-opening setup , ensuring smooth handover from construction, and establishing efficient operational standards aligned with Marriott brand requirements .



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full spectrum of engineering operations, including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, fire safety, and water systems.
  • Manage all pre-opening engineering activities: contractor handover, commissioning, testing, snagging, and asset documentation.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans for all equipment, guest rooms, back-of-house, and public areas.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, workplace safety, fire safety regulations, and Marriott brand standards .
  • Manage capital projects, renovations, and facility upgrades.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives, energy efficiency programs, and environmental management.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for engineering operations.
  • Lead emergency response protocols related to engineering, fire safety, and crisis management.
  • Oversee budget planning, cost control, purchasing, and vendor management for the Engineering Department.
  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing Engineering team to support both pre-opening and post-opening operations.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience and operational excellence

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • 8–10 years of experience in the local hospitality industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Previous experience in a 4- or 5-star hotel; pre-opening experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with international hotel chains (regional or global brands).
  • Proven ability to manage engineering operations for properties with 250–300 rooms, including multiple F&B outlets and facilities.
  • Strong technical expertise in M&E systems, HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, kitchen equipment, and building management systems (BMS).
  • Sound knowledge of local regulations, safety codes, fire protection, environmental standards, and Marriott requirements (preferred).
  • Excellent leadership, decision-making, and project management skills.
  • Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, procurement, and expense management.
  • A hands-on, solutions-driven leader with high attention to detail and operational excellence
