Job summary

A leading company in HR consulting is seeking an Electrical Technician for onboard repairs and maintenance of marine electrical systems. The ideal candidate will have a Higher Nitec in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering, and must be adaptable to changing work conditions. Responsibilities include diagnosing faults, conducting tests, and managing external contractors in diverse environments.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams.
  • Solid understanding of marine electrical systems.
  • Willingness to work on short notice.

Job description

Responsibilities:

* Diagnose and troubleshoot faults, and perform repairs on electrical systems and components onboard ships.

* Conduct testing and calibration of gas detection equipment in the workshop.

* Supervise external contractors as required to ensure work is performed according to standards.

* Assist ship crew and Superintendents in identifying and ordering appropriate spare parts.

* Prepare and submit detailed reports documenting completed work and findings.

Requirements:

* Minimum Higher Nitec in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering.

* Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams.

* Solid understanding of marine electrical systems, including:

* Engine control and alarm systems

* Fire detection and alarm systems

* CO₂ and water mist fire suppression systems

* OWS (Oily Water Separator) and ODME (Oil Discharge Monitoring Equipment)

* Ballast Water Management Systems

* Cargo monitoring systems

* Willingness to work on short notice, including weekends and public holidays.

* Capable of working in diverse environments such as shipyards and at anchorage.

* Adaptable to dynamic and changing work conditions.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
