The Service Engineer is responsible for managing Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) customers and internal stakeholders, providing technical support for the operations and maintenance of Gas Turbine Combined Cycle power plants.
This role involves close collaboration with plant personnel, internal teams, technical advisors, vendors, and local contractors to plan and execute both Planned and Unplanned Maintenance on power trains and auxiliary systems.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Technical Support (40%)
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
- Respond to customer and internal queries using technical expertise and sound engineering principles.
- Prepare and deliver clear technical documents, including procedures, reports, and proposals.
- Support customers in implementing technical information notices and performance improvements.
- Collaborate with remote monitoring teams to identify issues and develop countermeasures.
- Analyze and report Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) metrics and KPIs.
- Review and present monthly diagnostic reports to customers.
- Assist in identifying and pursuing aftermarket sales opportunities.
- Attend customer meetings on-site in Singapore and Malaysia.
2. Planned/Unplanned Maintenance (40%)
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure effective planning and execution of maintenance.
- Present maintenance plans and schedules to customers.
- Oversee and support dispatch of parts and technical services.
- Provide technical advisory services during maintenance.
3. Fact-Finding/Troubleshooting (20%)
- Provide on-site support during emergencies or equipment failures, including after-hours response.
- Gather and relay failure data to support investigations into operational issues.
- Lead or assist root cause analysis and propose corrective actions.
- Address problems arising during maintenance through rapid consultation and resolution.
- Create detailed and structured reports for stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, or large rotating equipment in design, commissioning, operation, or maintenance.
- Experience in customer service and site-based troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis and collaboration with field service and engineering teams.
Technical Skills
- Strong technical understanding of GTs, STs, generators, controls, and auxiliary systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in creating clear technical documentation.
- Strong communication skills in English; additional languages (e.g., Japanese) a plus.
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

- While primarily office-based, the position may require travel to power plant sites in Singapore and Malaysia for technical meetings. In emergencies or operational disruptions, the Service Engineer may need to travel on short notice (including after-hours) to support on-site troubleshooting, unplanned maintenance, and recommissioning activities.
