Career Trial for Jobseekers

Training Allowance: $7.50 – $15/hour

Full-Time Position

6-day work week, shift work, and no fixed rest day.

The objective of the career trial at BreadTalk is to provide comprehensive hands-on experience in bakery operations, customer service, product quality, team collaboration, sales, and personal development to assess suitability for a long-term career with the company.

Career Trial Activities Plan

Details of Activities / Tasks

Orientation:

  • Brief on the company's vision, mission, and core values
  • Overview of job expectations
  • Understanding grooming standards
  • Brief on SOP for uniform standards
  • Overview of the code of conduct
  • Brief on cash control policy
  • Handling of company properties policy
  • Food safety: Practice food safety and hygiene procedures

Lobby and Kitchen:

  • Tour of outlet areas for lobby and kitchen
  • Brief on product knowledge
  • Product movement and sales pattern overview

Opening Tasks:

  • Prepare for outlet opening, including cleanliness, lighting, and POS setup
  • Display and present products according to SOP
  • Check product shelf life and compliance

Cashiering and Lobby Service - Part 1:

  • Deliver customer service aligned with company standards
  • Apply cash control policies
  • Perform daily banking procedures
  • Create a warm and friendly environment for customers

Cashiering and Lobby Service - Part 2:

  • Manage POS transactions, including credit card, cash, GrabPay, FavePay, promotions, and delivery
  • Upsell and promote products to customers

Cashiering and Lobby Service - Part 3:

  • Project a positive image to customers
  • Handle customer inquiries, requests, and complaints
  • Dispense and pack bread

Closing Tasks:

  • Follow proper closing procedures as per SOP
  • Complete closing reports
  • Conduct waste count and analyze impact
  • Store goods properly according to SOP

Hygiene and Cleanliness:

  • Clean and wash service and packing areas, including trays, tongs, cloths, tables, shelves, fridges, and knives
  • Clear waste and rubbish
  • Sanitize work areas and stations

Sales-driven and Cost-conscious:

Understand COGS and sales targets. Inhouse Basic Essential Service Training (BEST):

  • Service standards briefing
  • Product knowledge and selling techniques

Continuous improvement through sharing sessions with trainers to identify and address learning gaps.
