A leading Safety Management Consultancy is looking for a Safety Officer in Singapore to oversee site inspections and safety compliance. Candidates must be Singaporean/Permanent Resident with over 7 years as a registered WSHO. The role requires strong communication skills and a commitment to continuous safety improvement. Job description
Key Responsibilities
Site Visits and Inspections
  • Plan and conduct visits to assigned project sites in accordance with a proposed monthly schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with the required frequency of site inspections for each assigned project
Safety Monitoring and Support
  • Support Project Managers and Site Officers (SOs) by identifying lapses in site conditions, safety systems, and safety documentation.
  • Collaborate with contractors to ensure timely rectification of identified issues.
  • Provide timely feedback through detailed inspection reports and ensure systematic follow-up to achieve closure of outstanding issues.
Advisory and Engagement
  • Engage with project teams to provide guidance on safety policies and requirements.
  • Review existing safety measures and share best practices during site visits to promote continuous improvement in safety performance.
Incident Review and Investigation
  • Participate in the review of workplace incidents with contractors to ensure submitted investigation reports are factual, accurate, and meet required standards.
  • Recommend appropriate enforcement actions or penalties, and coordinate with the Project Manager and SOS to ensure effective implementation.
Document Management
  • Upload required documents (e.g., inspection reports, incident summaries, photographs) into the designated document management system at specified intervals.
Project Safety Meetings and Initiatives
  • Actively participate in project onboarding sessions and safety meetings, contributing constructively to safety discussions.
  • Support project teams in the implementation of safety improvement trials when necessary.
  • Promote the implementation of safety initiatives and encourage open reporting at assigned project sites.
Stakeholder Coordination
  • Assist the Project Manager and Site Officers in responding to, managing, and resolving safety-related concerns raised by internal or external stakeholders.
Administrative Duties
  • Perform other administrative and operational duties as instructed by the Safety Department or its designated representatives during the contract period.
Mentorship and Onboarding
  • Guide and support new WSHPs or Senior WSHPs unfamiliar with internal safety operations.
  • Provide mentorship to new team members, assisting in their onboarding and familiarisation with safety policies, procedures, and initiatives.
Continuous Improvement
  • Work closely with the Safety Manager to provide constructive feedback and recommendations aimed at enhancing overall site safety outcomes.
Requirements
  • Singaporean/Permanent Resident
  • Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) under MOM and have been practicing as a WSHO, equivalent or higher for at least >7 years. Preferably 5 years with developer/main contractor.
  • Pass security clearance requirements for the projects and access to classified information.
  • Familiar with Workplace Safety and Health-related legislation and its subsidiary legislation (e.g. WSH Act, Fire Safety Act and EPMA).
  • Possess a high level of integrity, motivation and self-discipline to work independently
  • Able to work as a team player; providing assistance to others when required
  • Possess effective communication skills to manage stakeholders and cascade information (e.g. from Client to main contractor’s management and workers).
  • Possess report writing and computer skills (e.g. Words, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Involved with technological implementation or familiar with use of technologies (e.g. ePTW system, video analytics, data analytics, use of drones) and prior experience in WSH video surveillance and analysis of site video footages for safety surveillance will be preferred.
