Role Description
The position is responsible for supporting the Structured Finance Group in Asia Pacific. The Structured Finance Group provides and advises on infrastructure finance, real estate finance, acquisition/leverage finance, asset finance, fund finance, and other structured financing solutions. Primary functions of the Structured Finance Group include debt advisory, origination, underwriting, execution, structuring, documentation, cash flow modelling/financial analysis, negotiation, and closing of structured finance transactions and ongoing management of the existing structured finance loan portfolio. The candidate will collaborate with other teams/departments in origination/relationship coverage, syndication/distribution, management of middle-office, legal, and market/credit-related functions/risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a product/geographical pillar (e.g., debt advisory pillar, Australia and New Zealand market pillar, etc.) within the Structured Finance Group as a senior member of the team.
- Lead the business origination/execution activities and preparation of marketing materials.
- Collaborate with colleagues and internal stakeholders to promote and develop Santander’s Structured Finance Group franchise in the Asia Pacific region.
- Direct/manage the preparation of internal credit papers, financial modelling, and assist with coordination of due diligence, term sheet negotiation, documentation, and closing activities.
- Develop/review complex financial models, ensuring they accurately reflect transaction terms and due diligence, running sensitivity analysis, and making adjustments as deals evolve.
- Structure and evaluate transactions through financial projections, scenario analysis, risk assessment, and return analysis, including local tax, legal, and regulatory matters.
- Instruct and supervise unit business manager in handling post-closing activities such as SPV management, cashflow, valuation, and provisions for the loan portfolio.
- Support Santander’s global coverage by collaborating with global stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Engineering required.
- Minimum 9 to 10 years of relevant work experience in M&A, financial advisory, debt advisory, infrastructure/project finance, real estate finance, leveraged finance, or securitization.
- Proven track record of successful financial closings, including experience with international/regional financial sponsors, corporates, and government entities.
- Adept at handling multiple tasks, logical reasoning, and strong quantitative/analytical skills. Proven ability to deliver in a fast-paced and result-oriented environment.
- Strong interdisciplinary skills covering financing, tax, accounting, financial modelling, due diligence, and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to convey ideas and positions clearly.
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to establish collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and work within a multi-disciplined team setting while retaining accountability for results.
- Fluency in English is a pre-requisite and any additional local language will be viewed favourably.
