Job Title: Senior Unix System Administrator
Employment Type: Permanent

A leading payment company is seeking a Senior Unix System Administrator to join its Infrastructure Services Team. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the stability, security, and performance of the company’s core systems that support nationwide real-time and batch payment services.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned system administrator with strong experience in Unix/Linux environments, disaster recovery planning, and infrastructure monitoring in a regulated, high-availability environment.

Key Responsibilities

System Administration & Maintenance

  • Manage and maintain Unix (Solaris) and Linux-based systems across production, DR, and test environments.
  • Implement OS-level patches, security hardening, and system upgrades.
  • Ensure scheduled backups and database archival for data recoverability and business continuity.
  • Support disaster recovery strategy and execute regular DR drills.
  • Monitor system obsolescence and manage password/certificate renewals.
  • Maintain UAT environments and deployment tools for application updates.

Incident & Problem Management

  • Provide Level 2/3 support for system-related incidents, resolving issues per SLA.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.

Change & Release Management

  • Coordinate deployment and release of system updates and application changes.
  • Package and deploy applications using deployment automation tools.

Configuration, Capacity & Performance Management

  • Maintain configuration records of all production infrastructure components.
  • Monitor and tune system performance; plan for capacity upgrades when necessary.

Process & Project Support

  • Align system processes with internal security and compliance policies.
  • Provide infrastructure support to projects and enhancements.

Documentation

  • Produce and maintain accurate technical documentation for systems and processes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in Unix/Linux system administration.
  • Experience with SAN, OS hardening, patching, and backup solutions in enterprise settings.
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Shell, Python) for automation on Unix/Linux platforms.
  • Familiarity with database operations and data center processes is advantageous.
  • Able to support 24/7 operations on a rotational basis, including weekends and off-hours.
  • Effective communicator with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Certifications in Unix/Linux system administration are preferred.
  • Cloud platform administration certifications are a plus (e.g., AWS, Azure).
