The Opportunity:

Are you a seasoned underwriter with a passion for financial lines? Are you keen to engage with broker and insurer partners to develop innovative solutions for our customers? Join Zurich Insurance as a Senior Underwriter in Financial Lines, where you will analyze and underwrite new and renewal business using The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework, work within delegated authority levels on complex assignments, you will ensure a high level of service to our customers.

In this role, you will collaborate with clients and brokers to provide tailored solutions, leveraging your expertise to balance risk management with customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities and qualify accounts to align with the organization's appetite and business opportunities.
  • Conduct detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions, close deals, and cross-sell other lines of business to increase product density within accounts.
  • Develop and maintain strong broker and client networks, serving as the key contact for assigned target accounts.
  • Measure exposure, analyze risk, and accurately calculate target prices using appropriate underwriting tools.
  • Lead and participate in marketing presentations, sales team meetings, and the target account process.
  • Provide expertise on coverage issues, contribute to the development of underwriting manuals, and assist in training and developing staff.
  • Monitor and review work undertaken across a number of small to medium scale projects or a large complex project in order to ensure appropriate use of resources and adherence to schedules.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Embrace the concept of The Zurich Way of Underwriting and demonstrate the ability to quickly integrate and adapt to different underwriting culture and practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance, finance, law or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., ACII, CPCU) preferred.
  • Minimum of7 years of underwriting experience in financial lines and cyber, with a proven track record of success and good personal reputation in the market. Expertise in underwriting SME risks or commercial PI risks is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and pricing strategies.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using underwriting tools and software, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and under pressure, enabled to make informed decisions within delegated authority levels.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in Singapore and SEA risk.
