Dyson Singapore seeks a Senior Engineer – Energy Transmission to own end-to-end wiring delivery across multiple projects. You will lead architecture, supplier ownership and people leadership to ensure performance, safety, cost, and schedule targets are met.
You will develop detailed harness schematics and BoMs, ensure manufacturability at scale, and collaborate with mechanical, electrical, systems and manufacturing teams to meet interfaces and regulatory standards (IEC/UL/EN).
Research, Design and Development (RDD) is Dyson's engine room. It's where our engineers challenge convention, build, test, fail, refine, and then fail again - all to invent technology that solves problems that others ignore. You will be part of a global team that delivers groundbreaking projects that create trailblazing Dyson technologies for the world.
Within RDD, the Technology Partnerships team plays a critical role in delivering core technologies by working closely with internal team and external partners. In the Energy Transmission domain, we focus on delivering Wiring Architecture ensure design are safe, meet specification, compliance, quality and life-cycle cost targets. Our work spans with supplier engagement, and delivery through partnership models, working closely with Categories, Design Engineering, Technology Development, Procurement, and Quality teams.
As a Senior Engineer– Energy Transmission you own the end-to-end delivery of wiring solutions across multiple projects. This role combines Architecture leadership, Supplier ownership and People leadership. You are accountable for ensuring the wiring solution are delivered through capable partners to meet performance, safety, cost, and timeline targets.
Architecture Implementation & Design Execution: Implement architecture frameworks: Apply wiring architecture frameworks and design rules within assigned projects, ensuring that harness designs align with platform-level strategies and standardized component Design and develop harness solutions: Develop detailed harness schematics, wiring architecture diagrams, BoMs, and routing data that fulfill functional requirements and are optimized for performance and cost. Ensure manufacturability: Translate architecture and design intent into robust, manufacturable wiring solutions, verifying that designs can be efficiently produced and assembled at scale.
Cross-Functional Project Involvement: Integration and collaboration: Coordinate closely with suppliers ,mechanical, electrical, systems, and manufacturing teams to integrate wire harness designs into overall products, supporting seamless system integration and addressing interface requirements Design reviews & issue resolution: Organize or participate in design reviews and technical discussions, ensuring harness designs meet all specifications, compliance standards (IEC, UL, etc.), and validation requirements. Lead efforts to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve wiring-related issues during prototype builds and testing, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely problem closure.
Quality, Compliance & Value Optimization Ensure compliance and quality: Verify that all wire harness designs conform to regulatory and safety standards (IEC, EN, UL, etc.) and internal quality benchmarks. Conduct and contribute design risk assessments to preemptively address potential quality or reliability issues in the harness design Cost-conscious design: Support life-cycle cost management for harness components by implementing design simplification and supplier component reuse, identifying opportunities to reduce part count and cost without sacrificing performance.
Mentorship & Technical Leadership Team guidance: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers in the wire harness team, guiding junior engineers in design best practices, review of designs, and prioritization of tasks. Offer support as an escalation point for complex design issues within the project, ensuring problems are addressed efficiently and knowledge is shared across the team Continuous improvement: Model Dyson’s values and promote a culture of safety, innovation, and quality. Seek out new wiring technologies and process improvements in collaboration with leads, contributing ideas for future technology road maps and improved design methods where appropriate.
A Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical, Electronics , Mechatronics or Power Engineering, with a strong technical background in wire harness design and product wiring .
Typical 5+ years of relevant experience, with a proven track record of knowledge in cable specification & sizing selection , connector reliability .
Good understanding of Power Electronics, Battery & Charging System. Familiarity with compliance standards (IEC, EN, UL, CSA,CCC & IPC-WHMA-A-620. Strong architecture thinking and system-level design capability. A passion for problem solving and a drive to invent.
