The Senior/Technical Planning Engineer will be responsible for carrying out technical planning, programme development, and methodologies for technical submissions for tenders. The role requires a deep understanding of construction methodologies, efficient planning, and the ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines to enhance tender proposals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Tender Document Review & Technical Analysis
- Carry out detailed technical reviews of tender documents, including drawings, specifications, and contract conditions.
- Identify technical risks, constructability challenges, and opportunities for optimization.
- Evaluate various construction methodologies for each tendering project to find the best competitive and compliant methods.
Strong communication with internal and external parties- Collaborate with Quantity Surveyors, consultants, and the design team to identify and mitigate risks.
- Develop construction sequencing models and optimize site logistics with inter-departmental cooperation.
- Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to assess alternative construction methodologies and cost-saving opportunities.
Feasibility & Constructability Assessments- Develop technical feasibility studies to assess constructability and site constraints.
- Attend site visits to evaluate conditions and provide practical solutions.
Risk Identification & Mitigation Planning- Identify and assess potential technical risks.
- Communicate risks clearly to the tender team for proactive planning.
Preparation of Method Statements & Quality Proposals- Develop comprehensive method statements and technical proposals.
- Work with the BIM team to visualize construction methodologies.
Tender Programming & Construction Planning- Develop detailed construction programs, including critical activities and resource planning.
- Ensure program incorporates site constraints and logistical challenges.
Tender Preparation and Presentation- Prepare tender briefs and review scope, challenges, and risk factors.
- Present site logistics and construction sequencing plans.
Site Planning & Construction Methodologies- Consider site constraints, material storage, access, and traffic management.
- Leverage industry best practices for project execution and constructability.
Integration with BIM & Digital Technologies- Collaborate with the BIM team for 3D/4D visualizations.
- Utilize digital tools to improve project execution and decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in project planning within construction or engineering.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and project management best practices.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
