The Role
You will join our Technical Client Management and Support team as a Senior Technical Analyst, with a specialised focus on Data Consulting and Application Development. This hybrid role blends technical application development with frontline client management in a fast-paced environment, supporting trading and analytical platforms used across global energy markets.

You’ll play a hands-on role in designing, maintaining, and enhancing internally developed applications and scripts, many of which are business-critical to our clients' trading operations. In addition to issue resolution and integration work, you’ll advise clients on how to optimise data workflows and contribute to the evolution of our platforms through automation, scripting, and custom tooling.

Acting as both a technical specialist and a client-facing consultant, you will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external clients to deliver robust, scalable solutions, with strong opportunities for growth and ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining automated trading scripts using Equilla within Trayport’s Tradesignal charting and analysis product to support front-office trading strategies.
  • Developing Python-based APIs and integration tools from our primary trading platform, Joule, to automate workflows and enhance data accessibility across systems.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to internally developed applications and scripts, ensuring continuity and reliability of trading operations.
  • Documenting scripts, APIs, and technical processes to maintain operational clarity and ensure developer continuity within our trading platforms.
  • Managing critical support and client relationships, including confidently handling complex technical support cases and taking ownership of critical incidents. Builds and manages direct relationships with assigned clients, ensuring clear communication, timely issue resolution, and long-term client satisfaction.
  • Driving client enablement and knowledge transfer by delivering product demos and tailored training to clients, contributing to documentation of key workflows and recurring issues, and mentoring new starters through onboarding and informal coaching.
  • Leading cross-functional delivery and internal representation, acting as the voice of the client within the business to ensure successful product and service delivery. Collaborates across departments, authorises deployments and Request For Change (RFCs), and supports the rollout of complex workflows.
  • Providing strategic insights and supporting growth initiatives through the preparation of data summaries and reports for senior management (SMT) meetings, contributing relevant client and market insights to internal discussions, and helping prioritise product enhancements using feedback, research, and usage metrics.

Skills and Experience
Essential

  • Proven experience delivering high-quality technical support in a fast-paced, client-facing environment, ideally involving business-critical systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex technical issues across applications and data workflows.
  • Hands-on experience working with application programming or scripting languages, including developing or modifying Equilla scripts within the Tradesignal platform to enhance trading and analytical use cases.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities, capable of balancing multiple client requests and internal priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly absorb new information, think critically under pressure, and make informed decisions in a production environment.
  • Clear, professional communication skills (both written and verbal), with the confidence to engage effectively with clients, developers, and business stakeholders.
  • A degree in a technical or analytical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems), or equivalent practical experience in a hands-on technical role.

Desirable

  • Experience in a trading, financial, or commodities environment, particularly with exposure to front-office workflows.
  • Proficiency with Equilla scripting for custom indicators, strategy automation, and data visualisation within Tradesignal.
  • Familiarity with Trayport products such as Joule and Tradesignal, or similar energy trading systems.
  • Working knowledge of Python scripting and APIs, including experience in troubleshooting or integrating external systems.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g., TCP/IP), and experience using SQL Server for analysis and troubleshooting.
