As a Senior Teacher (HOD) - Special Needs, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment frameworks for the assigned domain, level, or track.
Ensure instructional practices are evidence-based, inclusive, and aligned with students’ developmental needs and learning profiles.
Customize instructional programs and monitor student progress through regular data reviews and observations.
Collaborate with families and allied health professionals (e.g., speech therapists, psychologists, occupational therapists) to provide holistic support for students.
Develop and implement structured programs to foster students’ character, resilience, and social-emotional competencies.
Support positive behavior strategies in alignment with school-wide values and expectations.
Design and facilitate professional learning for educators through workshops, coaching, and learning communities.
Model reflective practices and pursue continuous personal and professional growth.
Provide ongoing mentorship, coaching, and developmental feedback to teaching staff.
Lead performance appraisals and professional goal-setting in line with school and department priorities.
Lead cross-functional teams in the planning and execution of school-wide projects and initiatives.
Align departmental work plans, budgets, and resource allocation with the school’s vision and strategic priorities.
Establish and maintain partnerships with families, community organizations, and external agencies.
Oversee the development of communication materials, including newsletters, program updates, and public-facing content.
Contribute to staff recruitment, induction, and retention strategies, and represent the department in organization-wide initiatives.
Support ad-hoc responsibilities as assigned by school leadership, including participation in events, accreditation exercises, or pilot programs.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or other relevant qualifications.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, including at least 2 years in a Senior Teacher role.
Experience working with persons with disabilities is an added advantage.
